Goal:

Recognize distress, reduce harm, and connect to the right support.

Course Overview

HPP Perinatal Perspectives: is a practical perinatal mental health training for healthcare and community-based providers that helps teams recognize distress early and respond in ways that build trust, protect dignity, and improve follow-through. The curriculum covers core conditions and real-world presentation, supportive conversations, culturally responsive screening, safety response, and clear referral and care pathways across OB, primary care, pediatrics, ED, and L&D.

1∙ Identify

Evidence-based signs and symptom patterns of common perinatal mental health conditions, including key risk and protective factors across diverse populations and care settings.

2∙ Apply

Interdisciplinary, patient-centered communication and screening practices to support accurate identification, reduce barriers to disclosure, and guide clinical decision-making.

3∙ Implement

Risk management and follow-through workflows — safety response, warm handoffs, and coordinated referral pathways — to ensure timely, equitable access to care.
